The DeLorean DMC-12, conceived by automotive executive John DeLorean, is an iconic vehicle with a captivating backstory. Before establishing his own company in 1973, DeLorean had a distinguished career with Chrysler, Packard, Pontiac, and Chevrolet.
Designed by renowned Italian designer Giorgetto Giugiaro of Ital Design, the DeLorean boasted a distinctive appearance. Powered by a 2.7-liter V6 engine developed in collaboration by Peugeot, Renault, and Volvo, it could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 8.8 seconds.
The DeLorean gained additional fame through its appearance in the "Back to the Future" movies, with a total of six cars used in filming. Today, only three of these cars remain, along with a fiberglass model created for flying scenes, while one was destroyed in the trilogy's final film.
