Dream day for motoring enthusiasts as they meet TT Legend John McGuinness

In what was closely guarded secret location, 20 lucky motorbike enthusiasts got to meet 23-time Isle of Man TT winner John McGuinness and 14-time TT sidecar winner Ben Birchall for a day to remember.
In a competition set up by Bennetts Insurance, the winners were taken to Lakeland Motor Museum in Backbarrow, Cumbria to enjoy a day with the legendary bikers at one of the UK’s premier motoring museums.
"We were thrilled to host an unforgettable day at the Lakeland Motor Museum, where 20 of our Bennetts customers and BikeSocial members had the exclusive opportunity to spend time with racing legends John McGuinness and Ben Birchall. It was a fantastic event that celebrated our community's passion for motorcycling and created memories that will last a lifetime." Said Donovan van der Walt, PR & Events, Bennetts.
McGuinness and the Isle of Man TT has strong ties to Lakeland Motor Museum, which has a permanent dedicated exhibition to the famous motorcycle race. Included in the exhibit are bikes ridden by McGuinness during his career, a timeline of the race, which launched in 1907, plus a video highlighting the challenges McGuiness faced breaking the 130mph lap record.
The competition winners were treated to a day to remember including a meet and greet with McGuinness, detailed tour of his bikes, lunch at the on-site café, plus a signed John McGuinness TT sign.

McGuinness was joined by fellow TT hero and World Champion, Ben Birchall, who along with this brother Tom won the TT 14 times in their motorbike and sidecar.
All three riders have also been recipients of the Segrave Trophy, which is awarded to British nationals who demonstrate "Outstanding Skill, Courage and Initiative on Land, Water and in the Air”. An award also collected on multiple occasions by Donald and Malcolm Campbell, both of whom have links to Lakeland Motor Museum thanks to the museum’s permanent Bluebird exhibition.
Chris Lowe, curator of Lakeland Motor Museum said: “We were honoured to work with Bennetts in this competition to bring winners to our museum and to meet John and Ben. We have long supported the TT through our exhibition and memorabilia so it was exciting to share this with the winners.”

The Lakeland Motor Museum is open daily and features a vast collection of other motoring memorabilia including vintage cars, bicycles, motorbikes, children’s cars and other examples from every discipline of motoring. There is also a section dedicated to the superbikes of the Isle of Man TT Races. Children can enjoy a free fun quiz as they walk around.
Entry to the museum is free for under 5s, £7.50 for children from 5-15 and £12.50 for adults and £34 for families. Dogs are welcome free of charge and there is free on-site parking, plus an on-site café and gift shop.
